Anyway, my celebration for Day 5 is not only making improvements in my dancing, but being a support to my fiance in his learning, as well. We are both new to ballroom dance and it can be challenging to move your body in a new way and feel good about it.
We’re doing well with our lessons and I’m so looking forward to our first dance as husband and wife! It has been a fantasy of mine for many, many years to wear a big-skirted dress and dance the waltz with my man. Christopher is making an effort to make that happen, even though he doesn’t like to dance as much I as do.
We are learning and growing together and that is something to celebrate!
And as of today’s lesson? Dance has been an important part of my life since I was a very little girl. I’ve always loved dancing. When I was five, I started taking ballet and tap lessons. That eventually led to modern dance. In my 20s, I took up Middle Eastern dance and took lessons in Polynesian and African Inspired dance, as well. Although I’ve always loved to watch ballroom dance, I’ve always been uncomfortable with the idea of taking lessons because it is such an intimate dance form and I didn’t have a partner I was comfortable with. Having Christopher as my partner makes it safe … and fun!
