"Without the mindset, the marketing just doesn’t matter." ~ Carma Spence

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it numerous times: Without the mindset, the marketing just plain doesn’t matter.

No matter how much marketing know-how you accumulate, no matter how good you might be, technically, at marketing, if your mindset does not support your goals, your marketing will not work.

Why is that?

As it turns out, a non-supportive mindset will create situations that will derail your efforts. You might self-sabotage your message. You might procrastinate. You might hire the wrong people to implement your marketing for you. However it occurs, it will creep up and make your marketing ineffective.

I know this first hand because although I’m a talented public relations and marketing professional when I went from supporting other people’s goals to supporting my own, I fell flat on my face. After a while, I even doubted my skills and abilities.

And then I took a look at my mindset and realized that I was undermining my own efforts with negative self-talk and non-supportive beliefs about my worthiness and deservingness.

Once I got that worked out, and started working with clients, I noticed similar things happening to them. I’d help two clients do the same thing technically speaking and one would be successful and the other would not. Same technique, different results. When I looked deeper, I discovered that the difference between those two clients was what was taking place between their ears.

So, if you find that your marketing isn’t having the impact it should, take a look at your own mindset: What do you believe about yourself that might sabotage your efforts? And then take steps to lighten the mental load and start believing in yourself and your business.
