online video tools
What do you need to create decent online marketing videos for your business? Not much really … you can create some pretty effective videos without even owning a video camera!

Here is a list of tools that can help you create online marketing videos. Feel free to mix and match them as you please.

Audacity
This is the sound editing software I use to edit the audio recordings I use to create videos. It is pretty powerful … and free! You can edit the volume of the overall recording, you can amplify sections, you can cut out segments, add in segments, and more. If your audio is separate from your video, this might be a good piece of software to download and use.

iMovie
This is the video editing software I use on my Mac. If you want something more sophisticated, there is FinalCut, as well. And, of course, there are options for those using a Windows operating system, too. Regardless of what you decide, you will need some sort of video editing software to add in sound effects, transitions, and clean up videos in general.

Camtasia
This is the most popular screen capture software used right now. If what you want to create a video about takes place on your desktop, then this is something you’ll want to invest in.

FlipCam
This is a simple, inexpensive video camera that produces video that is easy to upload to the web. It is small, so you can put it in your pocket or purse and take it with you for “on the spot” videos. You can also get a tripod for it, if you want to take less informal videos.

Animoto
Would you like a quick, animated video with music? Animoto is a great service for simple and short videos. If you want something that is longer, you have to subscribe to their service for a fee.

PowerPoint/Keynote
There are ways to make a slide presentation in either of these software options and create a Quicktime video. It all depends on the version of your software, operating system, and computer. I now use Photoshop to create my slides, but that is a more advanced technique.

FreeConferenceCalling.com
This is the only free conference call service I know that will let you record audio with only one person on the line (you). I’ve found the recordings to be of very good quality and use them for my videos.

Of course, there are more tools available. I just wanted to provide you with a simple list that could easily get you started with your own videos as quickly as possible.
