~ Thornton Wilder
What This Quote Means to Business:
Why did you go into business for yourself? Was it to get out from under the thumb of “the man”? Or was it to allow you the freedom to express your true creative self?
For most creative entrepreneurs, the freedom to be creative is often the most important reason for going into business for themselves. However, the day-to-day realities of business can sometimes dampen that creative spirit.
That’s when you need to take stock of — and focus upon — the good things in your life. Or, in Wilder’s words, your treasures.
That’s why I recommend regular, consistent gratitude work. Take a few minutes every day, either when you get up or before you go to bed, to write down at least five things you are grateful for. When you do this consistently, you will get into the habit of thankfulness. This habit of gratefulness will help you be more mindful of your treasures and will help you feel more alive.
When you feel more alive, you will be more creative and your business will be more successful. In fact, all of your areas will be better.
Take a moment every day to truly feel your worth, feel your gratitude for your life and feel how truly blessed you are.
Now its your turn: What do you do to help your heart be more conscious of your treasures? How do you re-charge your creative engines? Do you have any exercises or habits that you do the nurture your creative spirit? Or, why not share somethings that you’re grateful for? Please share them in a comment below.
This is a really nice artlcle! The quote is a great one and your application of it thougtful. Thanks.
