How to Organize Your Speech, Part 2

 
On October 22, 2013, I was one of three panelists sharing information about public speaking at the Western Museums Association’s 2012 Annual Meeting in Palm Springs, California. In this excerpt from my part of the presentation, I talk about the most important part of every speech — the body.

In summary, the body of the speech is what your audience came to hear. This is where you provide value, support your point of view and address any concerns the audience might have.

There are several kinds of content you can put into the body of your speech. In this presentation, I suggest three of them:

  • Proofs, facts, figures,
  • Stories to illustrate your points
  • Addressing rebuttals or contrary views
