The Book of Afformations: Discovering the Missing Piece to Abundant Health, Wealth, Love and Happiness, 4th Edition
By Noah St. John
Hay House, 2013

Available through Amazon in paperback, hardback and Kindle editions, as well as from other fine online and offline book sellers.

Summary of The Book of Afformations:

This book outlines Noah St. John’s concept of Afformations … affirmations in question format. It tells his story of “discovering” them, explains how to use them and provides an abundance of sample afformations the reader can use right away.

What I liked about The Book of Afformations:

The book is highly readable. Noah’s voice is strong and clear throughout the book. His examples are engaging and his instructions are easy to follow. He also provides you with clear action steps that you can implement before you’ve even finished reading the book.

What I didn’t like about The Book of Afformations:

One of Noah’s suggestions is to select one afformation a day. Because the afformations are in sections, with instructional text in between, it can be challenging to randomly select an afformation, unless you only wanted to select from a single category. I like to open the book and let the universe select my afformation, and many times I end up opening the book to a page without afformations!

Conclusion and Recommendations:

I’ve often recommended various things because they not only provide good content, but also a role model. This book is yet another example of such a thing. Therefore, there are two reasons you should read this book.

1. The content is excellent. Not only is it clear and easy to understand, it is also transformational. I’ve been using afformations since Christmas and they have had an uplifting effect. I also think that afformations are an excellent tool for changing your mindset. Because of the question format, your subconscious is less likely to fight the positive idea. I’ve replaced the affirmation post-its around my house with afformation stickies! Whether you decide to work with Noah through his numerous products and services or not, you will walk away from this book with valuable information.

2. It is an excellent example of how an entrepreneurial author can build a business around a book. Throughout the book, Noah mentions his other products and services in a natural, “Oh, by the way” manner that is not too pushy or annoying. It is a natural extension of the copy. The book is essentially a piece of education based marketing (as Calan Rush would say), providing high-value content that positions the author as an expert and source of more information and support. Pay attention to how he does this and model his technique in your own book.

I will recommend this book to anyone who will listen. I’m probably going to buy extra copies and give them away as gifts.

NOTE: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. If you’ve read past book reviews, you’ll know that I don’t pull my punches when I believe they are warranted. I also try to provide balanced information so you can make your own decision to read or not read the book, even if you disagree with my opinion.
