“A friendship founded on business is a good deal better than a business founded on friendship.”
~ John D. Rockefeller
There are two ways to find good promotional business partners: You go looking for them or they find you. Either way, if you are going to be successful, you’ll need to have certain things in place so that you are attractive to these potential partners.
The first step is to get clear on what you have to offer, which I covered on Jan. 19.
Then you want to make it clear to potential clients what those things are. You can do that in a number of ways:
- Through your online presence … leverage your online footprint so that showcase what you have to offer not only your clients, but also your potential promotional partners.
- Through direct contact … when you approach a potential partner, be sure to let them know what you can do for them, before asking them to do something for you.
- Through in-person networking … always be on your best behavior when at networking events — you never know who you might meet and how they might help you with your business
Basically, as you grow your business and manage your business and personal reputation, you will naturally start to attract potential promotional partners. So monitoring how your business appears online and through the grapevine is an important part of nurturing and growing your business, as well as attracting the types of opportunities that will take your business yet another notch forward.
