Article Marketing Spinning

I’ve used this phrase in previous articles and I’ve even recommended it. But what is article spinning and how do you use it in your article marketing process?

What is article spinning?
This basically means that the article is lightly re-written. For example, adjectives can be substituted, the lead sentence can be re-phrased and, if applicable, whole paragraphs or bullet points can be shuffled.

As an example, let’s say this is a sentence from your original article:

The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.

When the article is “spun” the sentence may end up looking something like this:

The fast auburn fox leaped over the lethargic dog.

The important thing is that the spun article retains the original meaning but is written is a slightly different way.

Why would you want to spin an article?
There are several reasons why you might want to spin an article. The first and most common reason is to avoid duplicate content penalties from the search engines. That said, I’ve been told this is not a very common problem due to the content that is usually wrapped around your article.

Another reason you might want to spin articles is to add variety to your articles online so that when people find them, they might think you have more content and perceive you as an expert. Of course, if these people are actually reading your varied version articles, I’m pretty sure that they will notice that the bulk of the article is essentially the same.

How can you use article spinning in your business?
Given what I just discussed above, why would you want to use a light spin on your article? Well, it can’t hurt your search engine optimization and could help it.

Also, the likelihood that one person will find and read all versions of your one article is pretty unlikely.

But, if you’re still concerned, you can do a “deep spin” … a more detailed and robust way of spinning an article. It pretty much amounts to re-writing, but you can still use some of the original article’s sentences. So, it really lies somewhere between traditional spinning and re-writing.

I haven’t seen software do this, but I know that a human being with some writing ability can do this for you.

Again the main reason to go through this process is to help you get more content on the web without having to continually write fresh articles for each directory you post to. Spinning allows you to get more mileage out of one article.
