The Business Mindset: Think Long Term

Yes, when times are tough it is easy to get in the rut of thinking short-term… but this can lead to long-term challenges. You need to think of your business as a growing, living entity.

Be strategic in the actions you take. Refrain from desperate measures — don’t just go to any networking event or take on any client; know what results you want before you invest in business activity.

Ask yourself, does this action I’m thinking of taking move closer to or further from my ultimate business goals?

Yes, taking on a high-paying client at the moment can help cash flow in the now, but if that same client takes up so much of your time that you cannot do the things you need to do to maintain your key business activities, thus hurting your ability to attract and attain clients in the future, is it really the right move?

Always keeping the long term in mind is a key part of the business mindset.

Get clear on your long term goals. Then, before taking any action in the moment, make sure that the action is in alignment with those long term goals.
