Many small business owners use article marketing to drive traffic to their websites home page. But there is a more effective way to use article marketing to grow your list and increase sales of your products and services. And that is to write articles that send readers to a specific, targeted squeeze page. Here’s how this might work:

Step One: Decide on a specific product, service, or opt-in bonus you want to promote and develop a squeeze page just for that item.

Let’s say you want to promote a book or ebook that you’ve written. You can create a squeeze page that does one of two things:

  1. Gives the visitor the option to opt-in to your list to access a free chapter or leave.
  2. Gives the visitor the option to purchase the book or leave.

Step Two: Write articles that are related to your selected product, service, or bonus.

Let’s say your book is about baking bread. You can write articles based on each chapter in the book and keyword phrases that are related to your book’s topic. For example, you could write an article about working with yeast, using a bread machine, and more.

Step Three: Write a resource box that transitions readers from the article to your invitation to visit your squeeze page.

Make sure your resource box:

  • Gently transitions the reader from the last paragraph of your article so that they think they are reading more of the article, and not a bio or pitch.
  • State your offer in a way that is enticing and compelling. Your offer should be something that someone will want to click on right now.

Using article marketing in this way can take a little more up-front work and effort, but the results will be much more targeted and trackable. That way you can effectively know which squeeze pages and resource boxes are most effective and make the necessary changes across the board.
