What This Quote Means to Business:
When I read this quote, I immediately thought of the Eight of Swords in a Tarot deck. This card often represents self-restriction, the inability to break free of self-imposed bonds, or see through the self-created fog. In Marcia Masino’s book Easy Tarot Guide, the author says this card tells of a situation in which “The Seeker does not recognize her own power to think or act. She allows others to interfere with her thinking and decision-making process while her own true needs are ignored.”
When we lack a vision of where we want our business to go, it is easy to get derailed, distracted or take too many side-trips. When that happens we can feel discouraged with our progress or dissatisfied with our lives and business. The point is, though, the business is not the cause of the disappointment. The root cause is our lack of a road map … our lack of a clearly defined vision for where we want to go.
So I ask you this: If you are dissatisfied, disappointed or discouraged with where you are in your life or with the progress of your business, did you have a clear vision for where you wanted to be? Did you write it down? Did you refer to it when you needed to make major decisions? Have you kept that written vision up-to-date?
If your answer is no to any or all of those questions, then I’ve got good news for you. You can easily change your results right now by taking some time … maybe an hour or two … to get clear on your vision for your life or business and write it down.
Once you do that, you’ll have a road map and compass for your journey. You’ll have a guidepost to check against when opportunities come up. You’ll be able to assess each decision by the simple question, “Does this move me toward or away from my vision?”
I encourage you to work on your vision today. Don’t wait. And, if you need help, go to carmaspence.com/planyourbusiness and enroll in my free Business & Marketing Plan Basics
