“Are you in earnest? Then seize
     this very minute.
What you can do, or dream you can,
     begin it;
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it;
     only engage then the mind grows heated;
Begin, and then the work will be completed.”

~ Goethe

What this quote means to women entrepreneurs:
With already the first week of the year past us, do you feel ready to take on the rest of the year? Have written down your dreams, listed the milestone goals you need to achieve to realize those dreams and created an action plan to get you from today to New Year’s Eve?

If not, what’s stopping you?

Has this first week already been overwhelmingly busy? Too busy to just sit and think about what you want out of your life and business? If so, I hope it was busy in a good way … and not busy in a frenzied, I-just-need-to-keep-moving way.

In Goethe’s passage above, lies some sage advice for achieving what you want in 2015:

1. Earnestness. Are you really, truly and passionately committed to achieving what you want in your life and business? Or are you just ho-hum, maybe-I-should-do-that about it? How earnest you are about your goals will determine how successful you are at achieving them. Without earnestness, you’ll give up before you are done. Drive keeps you going even when the going isn’t so easy.

2. Begin now. A wise cartoon character once said, “put one foot in front of the other and soon you’ll be walking out the door.” You can’t get where you’re going if you don’t start moving in that general direction. So seize this very minute and do something, no matter how small, to move you toward your goals. Then seize the next minute, and the next, and the next. Soon, moving toward your goals will be as natural to you as breathing.

3. Be bold. Be assertive in asking for what you want. Be bold in stating your goals. The genius in boldness is the energy behind it. The magic comes from the momentum that is inherent in boldness. For example, a prospective client is more likely to become a paying client if you assume they are your client and ask for his or her payment information, than if you wishy-washily ask them if they want to work with you or not.

4. Engage. Don’t let your days go by you like the river along the shore. Engage with your life and business. Be an active participate and you’ll find that your mind will grow heated with excitement, passion and new ideas to propel you forward.

When you begin now, with the intention and energy to bring your dreams and goals to fruition, only then will your work actually become completed.

Now It’s Your Turn:
