Virtual Book Tour: Secret #5

On the second stop of my virtual video book tour, I shared Secret #5: Always be your best self.

“Everything affects your online presence, both online and off,
so always be your best self.”

Would you believe that you don’t even have to go online to have an online presence? If anyone mentions you online … you’ve got an online presence!

When you are always your best self, you reduce the chances of having a negative remark posted about you online in a forum, in social media or beyond. There are numerous examples of well known people getting caught in less than perfect circumstances and having it disrupt (and sometimes ruin) their business.

For example, in the news currently is Paula Dean. Because of something she said without thinking awhile back, she is now losing much (if not all) of her cooking empire.

Mel Gibson lost a lot of work because of his anger management issues and penchant for making racists remarks.

Michael Phelps was caught on camera smoking a bong and lost lucrative endorsements he’d lined up.

Sometimes these people are able to bounce back. Sometimes not. I suggest you don’t take the chance if you can help it.

unstoppableFrom now through December 31, 2013, I will be donating $2 of every book purchased and registered at to the Unstoppable Foundation. My goal is to raise $8,500 to build a schoolhouse in Kenya, where I grew up and my little sister was born.

To reach that goal and spread the word, I will be doing book readings and workshops throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties, as well as stopping by blogs, podcasts, teleseminars and more. If you would like me to stop by your location (virtual or otherwise) as a part of this fund-raising campaign, contact Paul Robinson at paulr[@]
