On Being Sociable

by | Mar 1, 2009 | Marketing & Selling

I have a confession to make. I’m an introverted person who suffers from social phobia. Basically, as an introvert, I prefer to be alone and need to be alone to replenish my energy. But I’m also painfully shy and have had panic attacks when forced into uncomfortable social situations like buses, parties and trade shows.

This is why I love online social networking! I can be my friendly self with strangers and not have to worry about my space being invaded or having a panic attack.

Now, just as a side note, people who get to know me think I’m crazy to say I’m shy. Because, once I warm up, I can be quite the chatter box. Once counselor said I was just “slow to warm up.” Whatever.

Anyway, I belong to quite a few social networking sites and will be covering the topic of social networking this month. So, I thought it might be nice to get your opinion of social networking.

Do you belong to sites like Twitter, Facebook and Xing?
Do you use social network sites for business, pleasure or both?
How has social networking affected you, your life and/or your business?

I’d really love to hear your story. Just put it in a comment below.

Oh, and if you aren’t already, why not link up with me on one or more of the sites I belong to?
