Marketing Your Info Product 5 – Article Marketing

by | Jan 29, 2010 | Marketing & Selling

Article marketing is a powerful way to bring traffic to your website. And increased traffic means more opportunities to sell your information products.

Here are two strategies for using article marketing to sell more of your information products.

Direct Method
Write articles about the topic covered in your information product. Repackage the content into smaller, less complete chunks. Then, in your resource box, point readers to your sales page.

This strategy can work well if the key words you are optimizing for are hot ones for buyers, such as:

  • how to
  • buy
  • review

Basically, you’re writing articles targeted to prospects who are searching the Internet for a solution with the intent to purchase that solution.

However, not all Internet surfers are in that space. They could be just on a fact-finding mission. So the next strategy would work better.

Indirect Method
Write articles about the topic covered in your information product. Then, in your resource box, point readers to a squeeze page.

Basically, this strategy has a more long-term focus in mind. Grow your list so you can not only market your current information product to them now but your future information products, as well as affiliate products, to them as time progresses.

For this strategy to work, your squeeze page must offer something of value that is compelling and related to both your information product and the article just read.

With the direct method, you may get more sales, but you’ll lose out on all those prospects who visit your page but are not ready to buy. The indirect method delays the sale but helps you grow a more sustainable business.
