Yesterday was chore day. I did the laundry. I went to the bank, to the post office and to the store.

Yesterday was also a day of simple pleasures.

While I folded the laundry, I watched The Water Horse, a tale of Nessy, the Loch Ness monster. It was sweet and touching and, at moments, very exciting. I sat on the edge of my seat and I even cried at times. A very enjoyable flick.

For lunch, I made a special version of my protein shake … peanut butter and banana … with a freshly frozen banana. Yum!

And, when it was time to go to bed, I got to sleep in a clean, freshly made bed. I just love that … especially now that I live with my boyfriend and he doesn’t like to make the bed. Laundry day is the only day I get to sleep in a well-made bed. I never realized how much I liked that.

Yes, sometimes it is the little, simple pleasures that celebrate you the most.

Now Its Your Turn
What simple pleasures do you enjoy … and probably never give a single thought to? How do they celebrate what is quintessentially you? Can’t think of any? Take a day and jot down everything that happens that day that helps you breathe a big, happy breath. Is it the feeling of plush carpet between your toes? The way your dog wiggles its tail when you feet it? The sound of your children laughing in the other room? Take stock of these simple pleasures … they are what helps keep you going on a day-to-day basis. Please share your thoughts in a comment below.
