Day 10 of Celebrate You!

Celebrate You! Daily Quote:

Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude

Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute
with love, grace, and gratitude.”

Yesterday, Day 9 of the 31-Day Celebrate You! Challenge, I celebrated my affection for dogs.

I’ve always loved dogs and yesterday I was treated to especially adorable moments:

Moment One:
A young man was standing outside my apartment complex, cigarette in one hand and a leash in the other. At the end of that leash sat a small bulldog. And on the face of that bulldog was the biggest grin I’ve ever seen on a dog without Photoshop being involved. That dog was literally smiling from ear to ear — it was like a scene from the 1989 version of Batman, where the Joker made people die with huge smiles on their faces. I couldn’t help but smile back.

Moment Two:
A neighbor from the complex next door was standing on the landing with her new puppy. It was an adorable ball of curly, strawberry blond fur. And it was dashing from one side of her to the other. I was so smitten, I barely noticed the neighbor. Turns out the puppy was four months old … and a handful.

sprocketI very much miss my little girl. Sprocket and I shared 14 wonderful years together and it is only now, five years after her passing, that I’m beginning to feel like I can get another dog and not be “cheating on her.”

Dogs bring so much joy to life … at least the do for me. My next apartment will definitely be dog-friendly!

“Dogs are our link to paradise.
They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent.
To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon
is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring
–it was peace.”
~ Milan Kundera
