Has your past somehow become better than your present?
Remember how on Day 1 I talked about the grass being greener on the other side of the fence? Well, sometimes that fence is the barrier of time. We often look upon our past as “the good old days.” I know I still think that Saturday Morning Cartoons were much better when I was a kid. You just don’t see shows like Hong Kong Phooey and pre-Scrappy Doo Scooby Doo any more!
Today’s Journal Exercise:
Can you remember a very good memory; one that makes you smile every time you think of it? For me it is the time that my dog was going to the bathroom and the sprinklers turned on. She sat there and finished her business despite being continuously splashed in the face. Write down that memory in your journal.
Then explore why that memory makes you smile. Journal your ideas on what about it that brings you joy. Can you bring that feeling into your present moment?
Can you recreate that joy in new experiences moving forward? How might you actively seek out experiences that make you happy? Journal your ideas and then share some with us in the Facebook group and/or in a comment below.
