Last night I attended the Speak Out! Toastmasters second annual awards night, during which they recognized my achieving the educational goal of Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM).
The DTM is given only to those who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and communication skills, and used those skills to help others in their self-development efforts. It took me 10 (non-consecutive) years of membership to achieve that award.
Toastmasters International sent me a plaque and last night, my first club in Long Beach, to whom I gave the educational goal to, recognized me by giving me a DTM name tag (I’m holding it up in the picture) and a gift of four lead crystal champagne glasses. They even showed some video clips of speeches I’d given.
It was a delightful evening … and it certainly celebrated me!
