Facebook gives you several ways to brand your creative business: your profile, fan pages and groups. Here are a few tips on how to use those areas for branding.
Remember, your Facebook profile represents you as a whole. You cannot have a profile under your business name. That said, you want it to be an overall part of your brand, so use a profile picture that is consistent. It should be recognizably you and also be very much like the picture of you from your website.
Your Fan Page
Again, use images that are recognizably from your brand. However, a fan page can be about a product or business. I have fan pages for two of my books and another for a niched blog that I do. You can add things to the images that encourage people to “Like” the page and to suggest it to their friends. Take a look at my fan pages to see what I’m talking about.
Groups are for interaction. If your creative business covers a topic that people would like to know more about and interact with others to continue their learning, a group would be a good idea. You don’t want the group to be product or service focused, but topic focused. So choose a topic that is connected to your brand and then uses imagery that will also associate the group with your brand … without being too in-your-face about it.
